OCB Series - Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. - Beaver River IPEh?

5.5% ABV
52 IBU's

"Inspired by the Beaver River (rivière Castor), which connects Ottawa to many communities to the East, this IPA is designed to appeal to Hop Heads. Taking the malt and yeast profile of a traditional British style India Pale Ale and adding an American-style citrusy punch, our Beaver River is both assertive and drinkable. Beaver River is brewed with local spring water and the ingredients are 100% certified organic."

The Pour

This IPA from Beau's All Natural Brewing Company pours a wonderful orange colour, almost blood orange. Two fingers of white head with lots of bubble coming off of the glass.

I get a lot of citrus and mango notes. Tropical fruits dominate with a nice pine-like undertone. The malted notes are very subtle, allowing the hops to be in the forefront.

Right away I can taste the subtle pineiness. This is complimented with the citrus notes. There is no one overpowering flavour, just a gentle balance between the wood and fruit qualities. The beer does leave a dry mouth feel, but not overly dry. Very nice taste, true to style.

Overall Impression

A very nice IPA (or IPeh?) I am a bit of a hop head, and do enjoyed the huge hop bombs like Hopslam from Bell's and the Maharajah from Avery's. While this beer isn't quite along those lines, it is a great offering to get introduced to the American styled IPA's. This beer is a B+ for sure. It tastes like sitting by the lake at the cottage. A great seasonal offering.

Available at the LCBO (242701) 600mL $4.35
