Labatt Gifts Royal Couple with Donation to Canadian Military Charity

Calgary, AB

Company also sends Budweiser to troops serving in Afghanistan

In celebration of the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their upcoming visit to Calgary, Labatt has donated $10,000 to the True Patriot Love foundation on behalf of the newlyweds. Labatt will also donate 600 cases of Budweiser - brewed locally in Alberta - to troops currently serving in Afghanistan. Since 1951, Labatt has provided beer to military personnel as a way to give them a taste of home wherever they serve.

A strong supporter of the Canadian military, Labatt chose True Patriot Love - which supports and honours members of the Canadian military and their families - as a tribute to Prince William's military service and Princess Catherine's grandfather, Peter Middleton. Mr. Middleton served as a flight instructor with Britain's Royal Air Force at the No. 37 Service Flying Training School inCalgary for two years during the Second World War.

"The Royal visit to Canada is an historic moment and Labatt wanted to mark this special occasion with a donation that honours William and Catherine and their unique tie to Calgary," said Jeff Ryan, Director of Corporate Affairs, Labatt. "Both the Duke of Cambridge and Labatt have a proud history assisting the military and this donation continues that tradition of support."

The Duke and Duchess had requested donations to charity in lieu of wedding gifts.
