Beer Academy Tasting Bar and Retail Store Grand Opening

Toronto, ON

First call at the Beer Academy

An exciting new venue dedicated to honouring beer’s craft from grain to glass is opening its doors in downtown Toronto during Ontario Craft Beer Week. The Beer Academy is inviting everyone to drop by during their Grand Opening Celebration, which is taking place Wednesday, June 20 to Sunday, June 24. Visitors can come and enjoy samples of their inaugural brews while exploring the dynamic beer-centric atmosphere at 75 Victoria Street.

The tasting bar will be serving 4 oz samples and 12 oz glasses of the Beer Academy’s five inaugural brews: Kölsch Blond Ale, Porter, Dunkel Weisse, India Pale Ale and Belgian Brown. All of these hand-crafted beers are brewed on-site in the Beer Academy’s small-batch craft brewery. Creemore’s Premium Pilsner, Lager and Gold Medal winning Kellerbier will also be on tap.

“For our initial release, we wanted to showcase a wide variety of flavours and styles, while keeping the season and peoples’ summertime drinking preferences in mind,” said Aaron Bilyea, Director, National Marketing & Specialty Sales. “Future releases could range from the classic to the adventurous, and include seasonals, unique one-offs and collaboration brews. Our Brewmaster, Todd Fowler, has an open canvas to work with; really anything that celebrates beer in all its versatility and variety could end up at our tasting bar.”

The Grand Opening Celebration will also feature tutored beer tastings, food pairings and the launch of the retail store. All of the Beer Academy beers on tap will be available for purchase in quart-size bottles and growlers. Unique to Toronto, the growlers are filled to order at an innovative counter-pressure growler station that ensures the beer tastes fresh – and stays fresh for months – when kept sealed in a refrigerator. The Creemore lineup of beers will also be available to take home.

Guided tours of the brewery during the Grand Opening Celebration will be available upon request; leaving with a greater love of beer (plus a couple bottles to take home) seems inevitable.
Grand Opening Celebration hours are noon to 7 pm Wednesday and Thursday; 11 am to 9 pm Friday and Saturday; and noon to 6 pm Sunday. Regular business hours are Monday – Wednesday 12 pm to 7pm; Thursday – Saturday 11 am – 9 pm; Sunday 12 pm – 6 pm.
