Mount Begbie Brewing Co. - Nasty Habit IPA

ABV 6.0% (Bottle 650ml)

The Brewery

The Bottle
"A generously hopped IPA, balanced by a diabolical blend of rich specialty malts and pure mountain water. A wicked ale that leaves you lusting for more."

The Pour
This golden brew pours a two finger puffy white head that crackles and pops.  The liquid itself is perfectly clear with amber hues like a fall sunset.

First off are some big flowery hops with a chewy malt balance underneath that tastes like toffee but not as sweet.  I also detected hints of citrus, herbs, nuts and maybe even some indian masala.

The first mouthful was flat with not much bite but with lots of resiny hop stickiness on the finish that leads to some salivation for another sip.  There's some interesting stuff going on here, but you've gotta search for it a bit.

A neat mix of a malty English pale ale with lots of aromatic and bitter hops to make it an IPA.  Not sure I've seen both so well represented in one beer, but there is still room here for more balance.
I give it a B+.  Definitely worth another look.
