Beau’s Releases New Vanilla Porter -- Pro/Am Series #5

“Burnt Rock” Vanilla Porter – available now -- is based on a recipe designed by Patrick Boisvenue, winner of Ottawa’s Members of Barleyment Homebrew Competition

Beau’s All Natural Brewing has released the latest brew in the Pro/Am Series of beers, a Vanilla Porter called Burnt Rock. The Pro/Am Series are beer recipes developed by talented, innovative amateur brewers, and then sized up for a full-batch brew at Beau’s All Natural.

Burnt Rock is a classic British-style porter brewed with additions of organic vanilla beans and extract. Despite what the weighty aroma suggests, Burnt Rock has a good, clean finish, and sessionable drinkability. With rich, luxuriant vanilla aromas reminiscent of fine tobacco, selected dark malts offer up balancing chocolate and coffee nuances for this medium-bodied 4.9% alc./vol. beer.

“Burnt rock pairs well with savory dishes such as mascarpone-stuffed gnocchi, or even winter comfort foods like mashed potatoes,” says Beau’s Brewmaster Matthew O’Hara, who worked with homebrewer Patrick Boisvenue on finalizing the full-batch recipe for Burnt Rock, as well as adapted it to become certified organic like all Beau’s beers. Boisvenue won a brewing competition with Ottawa homebrew club Members of Barleyment last April, which entitled him to brew a full-sized batch of one of his recipes at Beau’s as the grand prize.

This latest offering is available now in 600 ml bottles, directly from the brewery retail store in Vankleek Hill, and through the BYBO home delivery service in Ottawa. It retails for $7.85. It will also be poured on draught at select restaurants and pubs throughout Ontario, beginning this week.
