Local Brewery’s “FeBREWary” Kicks Old Man Winter in the Snowpants

Special Month of Seven Beers kicks off with Beau’s/Elysian Collaboration “Oiseau de Nuit” Pumpkin Gruit, & International Gruit Day Feb. 1

Next Friday February 1 is the kickoff of Beau’s FeBREWary celebrations: 5 weeks that will see Beau’s put out 7 beers (including unique collaborations and bringing back some fan favourites) as well as hosting events at the brewery in Vankleek Hill, and across Ontario. The timing also coincides with Beau’s beer + Bridgehead Coffee blend “WiinterBrewed” hitting LCBO shelves across the province beginning this weekend.

February 1 will see the folks at Beau’s toasting the first-ever International Gruit Day (, as well as releasing their pumpkin gruit Oiseau de Nuit, a collaboration with Elysian Brewing in Seattle. Malt and pumpkin blend harmoniously and provide medium body to this gruit, which displays restrained earthy, herbal bitterness. Floral and herbal aromatics are complemented by intriguing cumin spice notes. Oiseau de Nuit is available in 600 ml bottles direct from the brewery and through BYBO, the Beau’s home beer delivery service in Ottawa (, and it will be on tap at 50 pubs and restaurants across Ontario – the Beau's website has a complete listing of where to find it.

Beau’s also will celebrate the first-ever International Gruit Day, along with like-minded craft brewers across North America who have banded together to pay homage to the gruit style’s past and future. Beau’s will tap cask-conditioned gruit Oiseau de Nuit Friday Feb 1 to mark the day, and the first 100 visitors to the brewery on Saturday Feb. 2 will receive a signed International Gruit Day Poster. The brewery will also host Winter Carnival themed activities for visitors to the brewery on Saturday Feb. 2.
