Collingwood's Northwinds Brewery Launches with a Fall Release of Beers

Collingwood, ON

Craft beers are growing in popularity across Canada, and soon Collingwood residents will be able to sip a handcrafted brew produced in their own backyard.

Northwinds Brewery, a locally owned microbrewery, joins the vibrant four-seasons community this year. To celebrate their launch, Northwinds is releasing a select line of beers to bars and restaurants in the GTA and the Georgian Triangle area this Fall. “We are looking forward to introducing top quality handcrafted beers that celebrate the Georgian Bay lifestyle,” states Geoff Conway, local resident and owner/operator of Northwinds Brewery.

“Our beers are bold, adventurous and in some cases out of the ordinary, designed to reflect
Ontario’s all-season destination.” Northwinds is launching their name along with their first beer, Corduroy Rye India Pale Ale, this September. Until their facility is up and running, Northwinds’ beers will be contract brewed at an existing production brewery. Head Brewer, Andrew Bartle, will be creating the Northwinds
portfolio, producing sessionable and eclectic beers in predominantly North American style profiles.

“Our first release, Corduroy Rye IPA, is a full bodied beer with a hefty addition of hearty rye malt and loads of hops,” states Bartle. “It is bold and complex, with a crisp, clean finish that beer aficionados will love.”

Northwinds also has plans to open a Brewhouse and Eatery in the same area in 2014. Their goal is to collaborate with local producers and businesses to provide seasonal menus, craft brewed beers and other local selections showcasing the region.
